95+ Points, Gary Walsh – “The top Timorasso offering from this wonderful producer. Orange, lime, fennel seeds, roasted peanuts and sea salt, white flowers, a little matchstick complexity. It’s slightly nutty, but so fresh and saline, intense and chalky, really bursts with tight citrus and dried apple flavour, perfume and zip on a long ultra-mineral finish, some salted almond in the mix there too. Combines delicacy with power. It’s a great wine. No doubt.”

95 Points Tom Kline (The Wine Pilot) – “Wonderfully taut and fresh belying its five years in bottle. Citrus salt, lime pith, and an aldehydic nuance of ripe apple and grilled nuts. Very saline. There’s a chalky drive through the palate that melds beautifully with fennel, lemon pith, finger lime and white florals.  Some gentle phenolic grip to the finish, which is wonderfully focused and mineral. A complex and beguiling example of this relatively obscure grape variety.”

Crystalline in nature and such purity that it would risk a degree of neutrality save for the tang of lime and burst of briney sea shell notes on that long and soaring finish.  So primary, but so good, with the promise of so much more to come.  Idiosyncratic and compelling.  It is immediately apparent why it was released after the other 18 Timorasso crus from Boveri – it’s a white for the ages, so thankfully sealed with screwcap to reach its apex.
